Byron Sheets opened the meeting with prayer.
Jeanie Hetrick welcomed John Mather, GFA’s Counselor, to the meeting. Mr. Mather distributed copies of "A Modest Proposal – A Plan for Educational Reform at Greenleaf Friends Academy”. The proposal provides his recommendations on what can be done at GFA to make it a better school. One of his recommendations is to hire a Principal/Academic Administrator for the school. In addition, Mr. Mather outlined a Principal’s primary responsibilities, educational expectations, ways to support GFA’s educators, and other ideas to enhance the school.
New Business
Family Work Days during summer break
- Family work days are scheduled July 21st and July 28th. Repair of the school restrooms is top priority. We will need stainless steel bolts and stall partitions to either replace or repair current partitions. If anyone can contribute these materials, please contact Byron Sheets at 889-3254.
- Mr. Sheldon submitted additional work recommendations. These work tasks will be added to the GFA website.
- If anyone can contribute their time over the summer toward getting some of these tasks completed, including cleaning of the classrooms, please contact the school office to arrange a time to access the school. Individuals do not have to participate only on scheduled family work days. Independent help is always welcome. Remember that time worked will be credited to your volunteer service hours. Ensure that you complete the required form, which can be obtained through the school office.
- In addition, Seniors are required to complete 10-15 service hours during their senior year. This can be accomplished during the summer.
PTF Evaluations
- Please complete your evaluation of the PTF’s performance for the past year and submit to the school office before June 30th. The evaluation was included with the June 2007 On-Campus Newsletter and was mailed to all GFA families. If you did not receive one, please pick one up at the school office. Your input is appreciated.
